MN Republican State Convention

What Happens at the State Convention and Why It Matters

  • Delegates and alternates are chosen at our county convention for a 2-year term during even-numbered years.
  • They meet to talk about and vote on ideas (called “resolutions”) for the party platform in even years.
  • They also pick who will represent Minnesota at the national level, including national delegates.
  • The group officially endorses candidates in even years.

Why this event is important:
At the Republican State Convention, all of these activities happen together in one big meeting. That’s when delegates from all over gather to choose U.S. Senate candidates, pick delegates for the Republican National Convention, and do other important party business.
